On July 20, 2009 during the initial stage of the health care reform debate, President Obama said “This isn’t about me. This isn’t about politics” and that “there are too many lives and livelihoods at stake” to politicize the debate.
It appears politicizing the debate was the plan all along.
When you add 30 million people to the rolls of getting health care, access to health care, seems to me a huge gain and the potential widening of the base for the Democratic Party among a lot of people who might not necessarily vote before. So, I don’t think you’re going to see a repeat of 1994 come this fall. — David Remnick, author of the new book, ‘The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama’, on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher
I’m pretty sure this spilling of the beans is wishful thinking on the part of Remnick and we’re past the point of applying the opposite to whatever President Obama says.
