It is frustrating that Republicans are being painted as heartless over the issue of immigration.
Speaking as a conservative Republican, I have no problem with a healthy discussion on reforms but I haven't forgotten that we have been fooled before with promises that we would not have to face the problem again if we gave in to Democrat's compromises. Well, here we are. And this time the problems are bigger and more dire because the can was kicked down the road and now thousands of children are involved. Not once have Democrats acknowledged the need to secure the borders. Not once have Democrats accepted the idea that we have laws that are being broken. Not once have Democrats offered solutions that don't involve effectively granting amnesty and spending billions of dollars. The American people want our country secured. After that we can discuss how to deal with the illegals who are here. There have to be limits. We cannot absorb infinite numbers. It isn't fiscally possible. It isn't good for national security, and it isn't good policy. Republicans are not the bad guys. They are making the tough choices. We need speak out and support securing the borders first, then tackling the immigration issues. Legal, controlled immigration is good for America. Uncontrolled immigration will spell the end of our country as we know it. Jennie Veary
