--See Alan Caruba's article Operating a news site from Canadian soil, Canada Free Press (CFP) has not officially endorsed any Republican presidential candidate. But given our druthers, our preference would lean towards Rick Santorum. Until that is, he uttered the fatal words, "Obama preferable to Romney", that is.
Having said that, we disagree with our prized most senior columnist Alan Caruba, who writes today that Republican candidates Santorum and Newt Gingrich should bow out of the race leaving conservatives to coalesce behind Romney. The reason why is because 'The Battle Royale' of the Republican presidential race will be far from over, if Santorum and Gingrinch withdraw from the race leaving the field clear for Mitt Romney. The Battle Royale of all time would, in effect, just be beginning with Romney the single horse in the Republican race. Anne Coulter and Karl Rove notwithstanding, the public at large, tired of being conned by RINOS and seeing their civil rights frittered away on a daily basis with little or no help from GOP, will not coalesce behind Mitt Romney simply because GOP arranged the race that way.
How many of those who held their noses and voted John McCain in the 2008 election will refuse to exercise their vote in 2012? Even with the dim prospect of a vote for Mitt Romney being lost to a veritable Obama landslide is not an excusable alibi for refusing to exercise a vote. Allowing Romney as the only dog in the hunt also opens the way for shelving another truth we should all know. If Romney is the sole survivor of the Republican race to the finish line, then we will never know what the GOP would have done with a Santorum, Gingrich at the August convention. The truth can be hurtful but is necessary for living in reality. So what about Santorum after last night's remarks on Obama being "preferable" to Romney? Santorum should apologize outright for telling Americans suffering under the Obama regime that Romney is worse than Obama. This should be an easy apology for Santorum to make because most Americans living under the threat of Marxist rule know in their hearts that NO ONE is worse than Obama--not even Mitt Romney.

Santorum: 'Are you kidding me?'

(CNN) – Rick Santorum lamented Friday that his now-controversial words were distorted when he said the previous day Americans "may as well" stick with President Barack Obama this fall than take a "risk" electing Republican rival Mitt Romney. In a phone interview on Fox News, a heated Santorum described the ensuing uproar over his comment as "absurd," "laughable," and a "made-up story." More...
