State Dept. back at work completing its own whitewash of Hillary's lawbreaking

A lot of people thought a surprising twist had occurred last week when, following FBI Director James Comey's decision to let Hillary off the hook for criminal gross negligence, it was announced the State Department was re-opening its probe of her e-mail fiasco. This was not surprising and it was not a twist. And it is not going to change a thing. The State Department's review was a joke from the beginning, and it was only paused at the FBI's insistence because State was making it impossible for the FBI to do its job. Now it's simply going to put its own official stamp on the whitewash everyone else is perpetrating:

In April, the State Department halted its review of potential mishandling of classified materials to allow the FBI to complete its probe that began in March. "Given the Department of Justice has now made its announcement, the State Department intends to conduct its internal review," said State Department spokesman John Kirby. "I cannot provide specific information about the Department's review, including what information we are evaluating." Kirby continued, "We will aim to be as expeditious as possible. But we will not put artificial deadlines on the process." He added that the goal of the State Department's review would be to be as "as transparent as possible about our results, while complying with our various legal obligations."

As you already know, the State Department's inspector general - who operates independent of the rest of State - issued a blistering report that made it clear Hillary violated official policy and ignored repeated requests to bring her e-mail into compliance with the department's policies and to address the concerns of its IT professionals. Hillary's cronies told the IT people that her e-mail scheme was simply not to be discussed, and that no changes would be made to it in spite of their security concerns. That sort of rebuke will surely not be coming from the official John Kerry-sanctioned review. Expect some sort of nod to the importance of clarifying procedures or what-not, and possibly a reference to the fact that Republican Secretaries of State also used private e-mail accounts - as if this was anything like Hillary setting up a schlock, homebrew e-mail server in her basement and using it exclusively for all official business, then deleting thousands of e-mails before turning them over to the government. It's not even close, but there will be an attempt to create an equivalence between the two just as we're seeing in the left-wing media. I just don't want you to set yourself up for disappointment based on the headlines you saw late last week. The State Department is not going to suddenly shock us and rip Hillary a new one for her as-yet unpunished crimes. It's simply going to add its own stamp to the whitewash Comey started last week. She's not going to pay any price for this, unless she pays it at the polls.
