imageIn a world that seems to get darker as every year passes I am thankful for the Christmas season with its beautiful carols, message of hope, joyful festivities, exchange of beautiful Christmas cards and family gatherings. For many it is still the most wonderful time of the year. There is a stark contrast to the cheer the season affords and the grim, depressing and stress producing message the Atheist Bus Campaign is offering the public on the buses of Toronto again this Christmas season.
To be sure the over-commercialization, holiday excesses and over-spending associated with the holidays can detract from the real reason for the season. But for millions of Christians it is still celebrated as the marvelous fulfillment of prophecy and the birth of the Christ child, the most significant birth in all of human history. Christmas can still be a meaningful and beautiful time and the message of hope is as timeless and relevant as ever. The angels, wise men and shepherds rejoiced over this event some two thousand years ago and we have every reason to do so today..
