Stop coddling minorities and blaming everyone else

Nine bikers dead in brawl in Waco, Texas, got much less coverage than Treyvon Martin, Michael Brown or Tony Robinson. Why? One can only speculate that bikers generate far less politically correct outrage than do young black men.

The big picture is far more troubling. We seem to have become a society that has no idea how to resolve problems. We can demonize police, enact gun control, or take any of several other steps to try to stop violence. It won't work. Our citizens are angry, frustrated, disenfranchised, jobless, broke and despairing. Additionally we have tossed scores of mentally ill onto the streets who are pitifully unable to cope. The only answer to the looming chaos is addressing the root causes. In order to do that, there needs to be honest and sometimes painful conversations as well as equally honest and painful solutions. We must, absolutely must, stop coddling minorities and blaming everyone else. We absolutely must stop painting white, successful people as opportunistic crooks. We must acknowledge that the fault lies a little bit with everyone not 100% with any group. We need strong families, good education, moral values, faith and personal responsibility. With that, we all have an equal shot at achieving our goals. Our goals, not those of some talking head or politician. Unless we start dealing with the real issues (not the ones we are told are real) things will only get much worse. God Bless America. Verna Rock Port Charlotte, FL
