Dear NFL Countdown Hosts: Tim Tebow is a Bronco. Tim Tebow is a Christian. Therefore, Tim Tebow is a "horses #"?
That's the apparent adolescent logic in a skit mimicking "Tebowing" done this morning around 9:30 a.m. PST by two of your hosts on ESPN TV during the "Players Only" program segment. I'd prefer an adult American logic. Tim Tebow is a Christian. The media attacks Christianity. Therefore, Tebow is an easy target.
That is more honest and accurate, but you won't apologize for or reveal that agenda at ESPN. The First Amendment is about freedom of public expression in five arenas: speech, press, religion, assembly and association. The First Amendment affords Constitutional protections to both Tim Tebow's right to practice his faith and ESPN's right to ridicule or attack it. ESPN ridicules "Tebowing" to Christ as Savior. ESPN polls "Purple Jesus" as a best NFL nickname. ESPN kneels to its own hypocrisy. Blessings.
