Trump to nominate Sylvester Stallone for arts body?

President-elect Donald Trump is considering nominating movie star and director Sylvester Stallone for a position in his administration, the Daily Mail is reporting. The post would likely be chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency that provides grants to artists. The Donald and Sly reportedly go way back. And Stallone, who has spoken warmly of Trump, reportedly voted for John McCain (R) for president in 2008 but is not registered as a Republican.

“It’s been widely and wrongly assumed that a Trump Presidency will be hostile to the arts,” a source told DailyMail.com. “But Mr Trump feels this sort of A-list appointment is precisely the shot in the arm that the industry needs.” President Obama spent much of his early days in office politicizing the National Endowment for the Arts. Patrick Courrielche revealed at Breitbart website Big Hollywood in 2009 that he participated in a teleconference call in which the National Endowment for the Arts –the largest funder of the arts in the U.S.– encouraged artists to create pro-Obama art.
