I hope the President wasn't looking for political points with the meetings on Ferguson.
He is meeting with his Cabinet, law enforcement and civil rights leaders. It is reported that one thing that will be discussed is how to strengthen neighborhoods. Here are two ideas: Provide jobs, and keep rabble rousers from other areas out when a situation arises. How about explaining and supporting the Grand Jury system? And how about not making statements that inflame or spark violence? There is plenty of anger and frustration within the black community. And although much of it is based in real life experiences, there is also a lot that is promoted by the press (because it sells) and the government (because it deflects attention). Where are the Martin Luther King's of our time? The ranting and raving of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson Jr. and other black "leaders" only incites more protests, violence and discontent. There are real problems that beg for cool headed, thoughtful leaders. Virginia Sparks Rotonda West, FL
