If you hold a position where voting decides issues, there can only be 3 reasons why you would not vote. The first is a conflict of interest, the second is lack of knowledge and the third is to hide your position on an issue. Essentially, if you don't take a position, you can't be criticized for your vote. If you don't have the intestinal fortitude to state your position whether it be on the Board of a non-profit, a board of a bank or business, a local advisory committee, a city council, a state legislature, a federal government post or the United Nations, then get out because you are not doing the job you were hired/appointed/elected to do. In the case of the United Nations vote on Israel, it was a low down, gutless move to not vote. I am among those who believe that the excessive amount of the United Nations budget that is derived from American citizens needs to drastically slashed. It just isn't working as it was intended anymore.
