There's a very big lesson in the British vote to exit the EU. The lesson is, don't listen to pundits or pollsters about what they think will happen. The only way to make sure it happens is to get yourself to the polls, preferably in person.
The prediction was that Britain would vote to stay in the EU. Did people stay home, assuming it was a done deal? We may never know. Now they want a redo? That's not how these things are supposed to work.
The issue was fairly advertised, passionately debated and endlessly analyzed. The vote was done and counted. More people wanted to get out than wanted to stay in.
We can look at any vote or election and speculate on the reason for the outcome. "if" the facts had been adequately presented. "If" pollsters had be correct.
"If" people understood the issue better. "If" ads had been more effective. "If, If, If" But the only "If" that matters in the end is "IF" voters participate.
IF people show up in major numbers, if everyone votes then there will be no second guessing the results.
It is entirely possible that Britain is exiting the EU because of those who chose to sit out the vote. Don't let that happen here in November.
