WEF’er Mark Carney Turns To Praise Rather Than Derision of Trump at NATO Summit

Like the proverbial dog with its tail noticeably down between its legs, Prime Minister Mark Carney’s “Elbows Up” schtick has come crashing to the ground, at least figuratively speaking.

The Canadian PM, who came into power by blaming President Donald J. Trump for Canada’s severe economic decline, after 11 years of Liberal misrule, appears to have suddenly changed his tune:

“ANKARA, Turkiye — Prime Minister Mark Carney says U.S. President Donald Trump has succeeded in pushing Canada and European allies to spend more on defence, arguing that NATO members increasingly recognize the security threats they face. (CTV News, July 8, 2026)

"Carney said he spoke with Trump on Sunday before both leaders arrived at the NATO summit in Ankara and told him that defence spending by Canada and NATO’s European members has been rising in response to persistent U.S. pressure and growing concerns about Russian aggression.

“It’s not just that he’s winning the argument — he’s won the argument,” Carney said on Wednesday. “Countries realize they need to take more responsibility. They see the direct threats.”

“He said Trump’s goal has been to shift a greater share of the alliance’s defence burden onto European allies and Canada.”

That’s a far cry from the constant heckling and deriding of Trump, that gathered steam from decidedly anti-Trump Canadians who followed like bleating sheep his ridiculous “Elbows Up” campaign that brought him into power in anti-American Ottawa.

“The president is looking for a shift of the burden within NATO. That’s appropriate,” Carney said. “That is happening. It is gaining momentum.” (CTV News)

The reality is that Mark Carney’s government achieved NATO’s 2% of GDP defense spending target through creative bookkeeping and budget maneuvering. (Fraser Institute, Oct. 10, 2025).

The answer? Rather like Canada’s achievements on a trade deal with the U.S.—Absolutely nothing!

Problem is that Carney often boasts about his so-called phone calls with President Trump with no proof they ever happened.

Did an always busy President Trump use the mute button on his phone to keep working through the endless blah-blah-blah of Carney’s latest call?

In other words, is savvy Trump ghosting Canada’s insufferable PM?

What qualifies Carney to announce to reporters waiting at the NATO summit that “the president is here and he’s in a good mood”?

The answer? Rather like Canada’s achievements on a trade deal with the U.S.—Absolutely nothing!

In another out-of-the-blue change of heart Carney said he now supports U.S. strikes on Iran.

“Iran attacked multiple times” its targets in Qatar and Saudi Arabia during the ceasefire period, said the prime minister, who called the U.S. strikes an “appropriate” response. Canada hopes the countries involved move to reinstate the ceasefire, he also said in French.” (CTV News)

As Carney’s big talking about his changes regarding Trump was taking place at the NATO summit, his Liberal MPs were prepping for their ‘It didn’t happen’ game:

“Industry Minister Mélanie Joly’s department in an Access To Information memo contemplates “legal action” against users on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media sites it suspects of spreading “false and misleading information.” The censored 35-page memo did not explain what action federal lawyers would take: “This strategy seeks to uphold the integrity of and public trust in government information.” (Blacklock’s Reporter, July 3, 2026)

Carney’s authoritarian federal government will claim that none of this has ever happened

The day is soon coming when Carney’s authoritarian federal government will claim that none of this has ever happened.

Does this mean that Carney’s Liberal Government appointment followed by a Snap Election by blaming Trump for Canada’s more than apparent downfall just didn’t happen?

Carney’s 2019 attempt to replace the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, just didn’t happen.

Carney’s Liberal Government’s attempt to kick all independent media not bought off by Ottawa from the Internet just isn’t happening.

It’s all in your imagination everybody. Just ask the now almost broke and government-ignored independent Canadian media.
