The StG 44 (Sturmgewehr 44, literally "storm (or assault) rifle (model of 1944") was an assault rifle developed in Nazi Germany during World War II, in that they are all Magazine feed, usually 30-round, gas operated, most have a cam bolthead which locks the round into the camber until the gas pressure actuates to the roil/eject mechanism.
The design allowed to single solider to do what the squad machinegun was previously in change of, volume of fire. Accuracy of sacrificed along with range to achieve these ends. the round had to be small and light due to the fact that the troops would have to lug around much more ammunition.
But the most telling trait all Assault Rifles share is the physics of the round:
Small diameter round, truly modern, after 1990 are all approximately 5 millimeter NATIO is 5.56/55mm
High muzzle velocity usually on the order of 3000ft/sec 915meters/sec
They tumble if flight having an excessive propellent load
Once inside the body the round rapidly loses energy and tumbles around shredding everything soft in its erratic path. That wasn't a happy accident, it was designed to do it, take down with one round.
There is no possible way to hunt with the weapon, the meat wouldn't be any good.
