You know it’s amazing how many people think I am a card-carrying Conservative. Sure, I may agree with some of their platform, but I have always been of the sort to tell politicians exactly what I think, so being a card carrier just doesn’t fit in.
So, why am I not a card carrier?
Over the past 15, years, or so, I’ve seen the politicians make promises that they don’t follow through or they are blatantly lying.
At one time I had gotten caught up in the card-carrying movement and was a member of the PC party of Ontario. I listened to the rhetoric, heard the promises, and was stunned at how, once a politician became the “leader” they completely denied their promises. We’ve all seen this and to be honest it sickens the trusting who are involved.
There were the Dalton McGuinty promises, the Kathleen Wynne promises, the Bob Rae promises. Remember those? …What a disaster for the people of Ontario. These were during my provincial years…and we mustn’t forget the Patrick Brown promises… “Axe the carbon tax” he said he’d do, but, then, when he became leader, that carbon tax became part of his platform. Big deal, so he signed a great big sign…meant nothing. But it all boils down to the person and some of them are just better actors than others and yet some are just good people – it depends on the person and their ambition.
Every once in a while, though, someone seems to be who they are. And if they aren’t, well, that becomes the real burn….
That’s why I have always been forthcoming with politicians and told them I would give them kudos when they did things that were good for the people. I have also told them I would ensure, that if they did things that harm the people, not only would they hear about it from me, but so would everyone else. But never do I tell one, or the other, what one, or the other, has said. That’s a lose-lose for everyone…trust is a must and I will never undermine that trust by breaching it.
Long and short there are very few politicians that I have any faith in. I truly hate the extreme partisanship, and I most certainly have no time for those who express that they do not have confidence in their leader and yet like that leader’s policies. Now how ridiculous is that?
The reason why leaders go down in the polls is because of their policies, so how anyone can support those policies and not support their party leader is an oxymoron. If you support wasted money but not the person who prescribed that wasted money – that makes no sense, at all. These are the politicians who are only trying to save their own positions. For heavens sake – take a stand!
As for those in media who know very little, if anything, about our constitution. I laugh at them, but if they continue to deny the rules laid out in our constitution, pretty soon those rules will be gone.
The disrespect the media has for the Governor General; the disrespect they show because they have become partisan; the disrespect they have to the average, everyday Canadian, is quite astounding to me. I know that there are things in the Leader of the Conservative Party’s letter, to the G.G., that may not be within the ability of the G.G., but for media to say the G.G. can’t do anything is to deny our constitution. I guess that’s also another reason why I am nonpartisan.
Why I seem to be conservative: I hate waste. I hate the guilt trips the left (purported “progressives”) is constantly pushing on folks. I hate that government seems to think it is more intelligent, more entitled and more deserving than the people. And the biggest issue I have is the abuse of our constitution.
In abusing the constitution, with their idiotic games, they are abusing all Canadians. It doesn’t matter what political stripe one is – if the politicians are abusing one sector of the people – they are, or have an opportunity, to abuse every sector of the people.
If green energy is such a great thing, then let the people decide. It isn’t for some politicians to sign onto deals that are going to harm the people (some say corrupt agreements), costing way beyond what the people can afford. Same for the environmental movement. If you want someone to save that frog, tree, toad, bird, water, etc., etc., etc., pay them or purchase their land – but STOP destroying your neighbours because you seem to think you know better. Obviously, you don’t or, if you believe the rhetoric, you would stop driving; wouldn’t purchase anything, you’d grow your own food (but don’t let the animal rights activists know you have chickens, etc., or you’re done for). Hypocrites have no place using government as a weapon, and if they are concerned, they can go to court, get an injunction – but only if it will affect them/their property directly.
No wonder we have foreign interference. So many politicians are so worried about winning they will court opposing religions, cultures, etc., just to get votes. Why aren’t they teaching new citizens about our country and our culture so they can prosper in Canada instead of caving to partisan politics to win an election?
Suffice it to say, I have no time for wishy-washy. And now, with what is coming, again, we can only hope the Governor General is paying attention. If we don’t have a government in place, with a plan, a mandate from the people (of which the sitting government does not), we are doomed. January 20, 2025 should be considered Canada’s new “D-Day” (Donald Day), and we had better have a government that can get us through this – without bankrupting this nation even more, or we are truly doomed to a time of depression – not recession – but a depression. So, you best be saving your money because jobs will be gone, making a living will have, just, become a whole lot harder, and all of those special “things” one party made another party do, just to stay in power, won’t be able to survive if our nation is bankrupt. There is only one tax-payer!
So, I am non-partisan but that’s because I’ve seen the underbelly of this blood-sport. The one thing I can say is, I may not agree with everything the conservatives are saying, but at least it doesn’t seem as if they will allow foreign governments to steer our country. If that’s an endorsement, well, so be it…
Remember that’s why I remain… “giving them kudos when they do things that are good for the people and I would ensure them and you, that if they do things that harm the people, not only will they hear about it from me, but so will everyone else.
Let’s hope the G.G. moves forward with what is so desperately needed for this nation…
