"But for now, the agency (Bureau of Land Management) uses a rate that expects four raptors will die per year for every 100 megawatts of wind power generation. That means the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre wind project could kill 120 raptors a year, including 36 golden eagles. " "That's a far lower number than an estimate produced by HawkWatch International, a Salt Lake City-based nonprofit group dedicated to monitoring and protecting birds of prey.
