The truth is that the entire agreement is voluntary. It commits nobody to anything. Of course, in the final analysis, the truth won't matter and the American people will be forking over big bucks to (hypothetically) help major polluters to fix their problems.
Remember, Americans have already paid through the nose to develop alternative fuels sources that only have a minimum effect, such as wind and solar.
We have invested in fuel efficient cars that emit less pollutants, we are closing coal fired electrical generating stations, we have a clean water initiative, we have significantly cut air pollution. And we did it on our dime. Now we will be expected to fund the same sorts of efforts globally with zero guaranty that those we help will use our money wisely or even make changes to improve the global situation.
Then we find our that the worst polluters will be granted extensions of time to "voluntarily" meet the goals.
This is NOT a victory. This is another con job by the administration and the media.
