Canada Importing Chinese Muscle To Attack The U.S. Car Industry

Canada’s attempted take down of their next door neighbor didn’t just happen overnight with the sudden April 28th Snap Election of elitist global banker Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney, replacing Justin Trudeau.

It’s been provably going on for the past 20 years when Canadian born United Nations booster Maurice Strong joined up with mogul anti-America financier George Soros, aiming to flood the American market with cheap Chinese-made cars by a deadline of 2007.

You can’t make this up, you can only wish it wasn’t so.

“Strong's public predictions that China would replace the United States, as world superpower is not happening fast enough. So Strong and George Soros are contemplating pouring hundreds of millions into a Communist China automaker that manufactures the "Chery".

"Strong and Soros hope to decimate Ford, Chrysler and GM by flooding the U.S. market with cheapo Cherys on a 2007 timeline.

“The Strong-Soros get together makes for the business Partnership from Hell.

“Both are bitter septuagenarians and running dogs for the One World Order-pushing UN.

"Strong is on the public record for having stated that for humanity to survive, it may be necessary "for industrial civilization to collapse."

“Strong's forced industrial collapse remark could be written off as the public musings of a crackpot on a bad day. “China’s giant Chery Automobile is positioning itself to become the first Chinese automaker to sell passenger EVs in Canada, hiring staff and preparing to open an office as it seeks to capitalize on the country’s new tariff deal with Beijing.

“Recruiters working on behalf of Chery have contacted Canadian auto industry professionals on LinkedIn about roles to support the company’s expansion, The Globe and Mail reported Thursday.

“The messages indicate Chery is hiring for positions needed to build a Canadian sales operation from scratch, with some specifically mentioning the company’s Omoda and Jaecoo sub-brands.

“The move is part of Chery‘s “long-term decision to invest and grow its business in Canada,” according to recruitment messages seen by the local newspaper.

“Mark Carney announced last week that Canada would allow up to 49,000 Chinese-made EVs into the country annually at a 6.1% tariff rate — down from the 100% levy imposed in 2024.

"Chery announced this week a sales target of 3.2 million units for 2026, approximately 14% higher than 2025 and a new peak for the company.

"The automaker plans to launch 17 key models this year.

'The Wuhu-based company achieved record highs in sales, exports, and new energy vehicles in 2025, selling more than 2.8 million passenger cars.

"Over 900,000 of those were new energy vehicles.

“Canada’s goal of attracting Chinese auto investment is part of Mark Carney’s broader trade truce with China

“Canada’s government is working to land a Chinese-Canadian auto plant that will export electric vehicles globally, Industry Minister Mélanie Joly said.

“She said Canadian auto parts firms such as Magna International Inc., Linamar Corp. and Martinrea International Inc. already have operations in China, and could participate in a joint-venture assembly plant in Canada.

“We believe that these great Canadian champions can partner with Chinese EV companies to make a Canadian-Chinese car to export it around the world,” Joly said in an interview with Bloomberg News on Friday.

“The overtures to Chinese automakers mark a turnaround for the Canadian government as it looks to reduce dependence on the United States market for cars and build a stronger domestic industry. Canada had previously said China was unfairly subsidizing its manufacturers, while security concerns have been raised over the vehicles’ technology.

“We can find a way to have software in the car that will address the security concerns,” she said. “We think we’re able to have labour standards that are in conformity with what we accept and expect in Canada, and that there can be local supply chains in Canada that are created out of these investments.”

“Joly said there are “active conversations” on how domestic firms might complement new Chinese investment into Canada’s auto sector, including with software developer QNX, which is headquartered in Ottawa and owned by BlackBerry Ltd. On a recent trip to China, Joly met with Chinese auto firms BYD Co. Ltd., the world’s largest producer of EVs, and Chery Automobile Co.(Financial Post)

“I’ve already raised the fact with many Chinese companies that QNX is a state-of-the-art company that we could scale even more around the world,” she said.

"The minister argued that a co-created EV could still be competitive globally despite the higher labour costs of building in Canada compared to China. She pointed to Honda Motor Co., which builds its affordably priced Civic car in Ontario, as an example. “We can find a way to square the circle,” she said.

"Canada’s goal of attracting Chinese auto investment is part of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s broader trade truce with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In January, China agreed to begin removing duties on Canadian agriculture products in exchange for Canada exempting as many as 49,000 Chinese-built EVs annually from a 100% tariff imposed in 2024.

“On Thursday, Carney and Joly unveiled an overarching strategy for Canada’s auto sector, which has been hammered by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs. General Motors Co. recently announced layoffs at its Canadian plants and Stellantis NV reneged on a decision to restart a factory near Toronto to build a Jeep model.

“The strategy includes revamping Canada’s counter-tariff approach to reward firms that maintain production in the country.

"Canada is keeping its retaliatory tariffs on U.S.-built autos, but is planning to implement a system of import credits. The more cars a company builds in Canada, the less it will pay in tariffs on imported U.S. vehicles — and it would also be able to sell excess credits to other firms.

“Today, the biggest beneficiaries would be the two Japanese firms, which account for three-quarters of Canada’s auto production.(Financial Post)

“It is a way actually to compensate companies such as Honda and Toyota that are increasing their production in Canada,” Joly said. “It’s another way for them to make revenues.”

"Carney’s government is also angling for auto investment from other countries, with South Korea a major target because Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. sell hundreds of thousands of cars in Canada but make none of them locally. The two governments recently signed a non-binding agreement “to cooperate on advancing a Korean automotive industrial footprint in Canada.”

“We’re definitely looking at car assembly plants,” Joly said. “Quebec is the biggest Kia market in the world. So we’re having conversations. Our goal is to create jobs and attract investment in the auto sector, so I think we are willing to look at different scenarios.”
