Corrupt and dishonest politics

The saying, “of, by and for the People” is important.

While reading a lengthy Bloomberg report that 10 of 20 cabinet level agencies and 49 other federal agencies failed to meet the President’s own order to supply public information in a timely manner, I was struck by a realization.

We are so indoctrinated into corrupt and dishonest politics that we shrug our shoulders and say that’s just how it is in government? That light bulb saddened me. Over time, those in seats of power have disillusioned and discouraged us to the point that we will opt out of our responsibilities as citizens of a free country believing that we can’t make a difference. In short, they won, they beat us. Are you willing to let this continue? Or are we going to get off the couch and get involved? I am not going to hand my country and my freedom over without a murmur. I cannot live with myself if we ceded our Republic because we were too lazy or brainwashed to put up a fight. This can be fixed. It can’t be fixed without full engagement of the people. The saying, “of, by and for the People” is important. It doesn’t just say “for the people” it also says “of and by the people”. Too few people understand that governance requires full participation of the governed. We are, or should be, partners, not pawns. So, come on, partner, get informed and vote. Stewart Andersen
