Free Speech is Not Free

"Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler who spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps, despite his ardent nationalism. Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation: “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out... (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum)"

The most often quoted sentiment that Martin Niemoller is credited with goes like this …
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me."

'CFP', Canada Free Press, could one day be lamented in the very same context. On the entire Internet, worldwide, Canada Free Press is one of the last surviving online journals that allows its writers to openly speak of the attack on Christian conservatives without fear of any censorship or camouflaged reprisals. And as a contributing journalist to CFP, I can freely speak of Jesus Christ 'in the present tense'--citing my personal and living relationship with Him and my dependence upon Him, knowing that all of my words will be allowed to speak unfettered by editors who don't share my beliefs.

The last online journal (some of my readers may remember who that was, prior to my association with Canada Free Press) for which I had written hundreds of articles, began judiciously editing my words--apart from my knowledge or permission--and actually altered the things I had clearly intended to write about. Ultimately, one of that magazine's editors quietly informed me that, even though I was one of that journal's most popularly read authors, my days with them were numbered. He further informed me that the senior editor had called me an "extremist Christian" ; and that he did not want me doing any further writing for them. CFP, at that point, opened their doors to me. I have done most all my writing with them ever since.

I have been around for a while. My sons, both now at home with their Lord, used to tell me that I am "old as dirt". That being the case, I can proudly say that I have watched the Internet and cyber world grow up from its infancy into the sprawling horror that it is today. [And yes, I do realize that the computer world has helped in providing mankind with a vehicle in which, obviously, much good has apparently blossomed from its involvement with mankind worldwide.

Nevertheless, what may have originally been at least seen as a boon to the benefit of mankind, has truly evolved into an all-intrusive snake which is ever trespassing into the privacy of people who used to be able to keep the world out when they closed their doors at the end of every day. Such is no longer the case. And Bill Gates, like it or not, made a mercilessly intrusive marketing tool that, effectively, doesn't respect anybody's doors or privacy.

The point of my writing this particular piece is simply this ...

Canada Free Press NEEDS YOUR HELP. Because of the substance of all the aggregate of what they publish - OPENLY AND APART FROM AN EDITOR'S BUTCHERING PENCIL - the nearly pure blue, liberal Internet has taken every opportunity to try and literally snuff them out. Larger, well-known advertisers have indeed been threatened where it hurts them the most - in their pocketbooks, of course - if their ad dollars are spent with Canada Free Press.
