Era of unprecedented destruction from the most unvetted US president of all time

GOP Old Boys Network still using Pony Express

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, like so many politicians well past his due date, must be kidding. In this era of unprecedented destruction from the most unvetted US president of all time, Cheney wants to talk 100 days before November 6 elections about how Sarah Palin was unvetted?
“Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sen. John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin as his GOP running mate in 2008 was a “mistake” — and one that Mitt Romney can’t repeat.” (The Blaze, July 29, 2012) Google Dick Cheney on Sarah Palin in 2008, and you won’t find a word. That means that Cheney waited almost four years to tell the world about Palin. The GOP Paul Reveres should stop relying on Pony Express to deliver their message.

“In an interview segment broadcast Sunday — his first since receiving a heart transplant earlier this year — Cheney told ABC‘s Jonathan Karl he does not think McCain’s decision to pick the former Alaska governor was “well handled,” largely because she would not have been ready to be president of the United States.” Neither was Obama but the USA is now saddled with him even though his main interest in life is the Fundamental Transformation of America. “Cheney, who headed up the running mate search for Presidents Gerald Ford and George W. Bush before being named the latter’s No. 2, said there are always “two lists” in play during the vetting process: The “big list,” which is broad and full of non-serious contenders, and the “small list, the one that’s really under active consideration. “The test to get on that small list has to be, ‘Is this person capable of being president of the United States?’” Cheney said. “In Palin’s case, he said, the answer was no.” If that were truly the test for getting on the small list, Cheney should have stepped forward with his dire unvetted warnings during the 2008 campaign. In politically correct tones, Cheney tries to soften his Sarah smear. “I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. She – attractive candidate. But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test…of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake,” Cheney said. Valiant members of the Campaign to Defeat Obama PAC were quick to come to Palin’s defense, a not surprising reaction from the one group that is right on target rather than being all over the map like so many others. “Lloyd Marcus, the Chairman of leading conservative group Campaign to Defeat Obama PAC released the following statement today in response to an ABC news report that former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized Sarah Palin’s qualifications to serve in the White House: “To suggest that Sarah Palin does not possess the necessary qualifications to serve in the White House is ridiculous on its face. Ever since she was selected in 2008 by the Republican party’s nominee for president, then ratified by the GOP membership at the Republican Party convention, she has proven time and time again to be an extremely capable, inspiring and visionary leader.   “Palin has proven her mettle in the years since 2008.  She has become one of the most prominent and vocal leaders of the tea party movement, and her campaign efforts have single-handedly influenced the outcome of countless senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial elections because the American people believe in her leadership skills and trust her judgment. They know that she knows a great leader when she sees one because she herself is a great leader. “Contrast that with the disastrous record Barack Obama has compiled since 2008.  Obama has failed the people of this nation and brought harm to our economy, national defense and the American spirit. Campaign to Defeat Obama Vice Chair Andrea Shea King concluded:
“Sarah Palin will never be the safe choice of the GOP establishment blue bloods. "In bucking the ‘good old boys’ throughout her entire career and proving that she could rack up accomplishments and make big differences --  as both an executive in office and a citizen activist and Tea Party leader -- she has proven she is more valuable than the whole lot of them. "Sarah Palin’s record and leadership abilities speak for themselves and anybody would do better to emulate them than to marginalize themselves by taking swipes at her.” “ The Left and their allies in the media will always try to personally malign conservatives for their own political purposes, but it is our responsibility to not only prevent ourselves from being sucked into these tricks and giving credence to these baseless attacks, but also to proactively fight back. This proud American conservative will not stand for these despicable sneering smears against Sarah Palin, and no conservative should.” (Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama)
Cheney is in the same recycling bin as Bill Clinton, recently called to the rescue of a flagging-in-the polls Obama. It’s time for the political power brokers to pack old boys like Cheney and Clinton in mothballs and to keep their recycling efforts for the phony Save the Environment diatribe they force on the rest of us.
