Hang them up

The Port Authority has decided to fine passengers who cost the airlines and the PA by a take-off delay. Let’s celebrate. But this isn’t enough.

Every passenger on a disrupted flight should be allowed to put in a bill with the perpetrator for their inconvenience. People used to be civilized. The Alec Baldwins of the world have reduced people to solipsistic narcissism. We need less stars and more humility. We should not be blinded by his arrogant light show. We should turn off the television and cost the perpetrators enough that they can’t get back on the plane. David Lawrence, New York, N.Y.
