Hydro Rates

When McGuinty was first elected in 2003 he promised not raise taxes and to freeze hydro rates which was 4.5 cents per Kilowatt almost immediately he raised hydro rates and implemented the Health tax even though he promised not too to get elected. Then in 2007 he promised again not to raise taxes and here are some of things he has increased licensing fees, recycling fees for electronics, the HST, eco fees, lottery tickets he calls them fees consumers call it a tax, smart meters, as well as another hike in hydro.

Since April 2010 Hydro has increased by 17.7 % in the Ottawa area without the McGuinty Meter kicking in. Under McGuinty Hydro has gone from 4.5 cents a Kilowatt to 9.9 cents at peak time where it has already been implemented and more increases are on the way. Then on Jan 21 2010 Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, and KEPCO executive vice- president Chan-Ki Jung sign an agreement in Toronto under which a South Korean consortium led by Samsung C&T Corp. won a $6 billion deal to supply renewable energy equipment to Ontario total cost of this deal is rumoured to be $7 billion when completed. If Ontarians want a clean and reliable supply of electricity, they’re going to have to pay for it, says the province’s minister of energy states. Without those investments, Duguid asserted, “we would not have got through this summer without serious problems, disruptions and brownouts. These are critical investments. The alternative would be far, far worse.” What a pile of crock. The truth is the Ontario tax payers paid out $37 million this year for the Bruce Peninsula Nuclear Plant not to produce Hydro. The Liberal government is paying producers of solar, wind and other forms of green energy, up to 80 cents per kilowatt hour in 20-year contracts. So I would like to know is since the Ontario Tax Payer is funding the 7 Billion Korean deal is McGuinty going to charge the Ontario Government 80 cents a Kilowatt and keep that as a fee and past this cost on to the consumer. Do the math here folks McGuinty's buying Hydro for Ontario at 80 cents a Kilowatt what will the consumer be paying. The propose electricity rates from Hydro One asked for an increase of 15.7% in 2011 and 9.6% in 2012 and If the CME’s calculations are correct by 2015 Hydro will of increase by 41.8 per cent.
