MPP Hillier joins Fresh Milk Supporters in Newmarket

Michael Schmidt, fresh milk crusader’s trial

(Queen’s Park) – On Wednesday, MPP Randy Hillier will show his ongoing support for Michael Schmidt in Newmarket by his attendance of closing arguments in the fresh milk crusader’s trial.

On many occasions Hillier has come out publicly in support of Mr. Schmidt and his efforts to bring freedom and farm fresh food to investors. Hillier’s attendance at the trial is due to the McGuinty Government’s suggestion that individual freedom can be abridged for health and safety concerns is dishonest to the people of Ontario. “Clearly the McGuinty Government has abdicated their responsibilities to the people of Ontario and turned over control and management of the bureaucracy to special interest groups and corporate concerns to protect a legislated monopoly,” he added. “Family farms like Mr. Schmidt’s are the solution, not the problem, to the dangers posed to consumers today. The real danger in this province is our reliance on imported foods, when perfectly healthy and secure Ontario food sources are available,” Hillier continued. “It is beyond question that Michael has worked endlessly and enduringly, and with respect for the law. He has often requested full and proper hearings and an airing of “The Milk Act” and the science that supports the legislation, however his every attempt at legislative reform has been blocked or dismissed,” Hillier noted. “It is not only Michael Schmidt who is on trial in Newmarket, but our heritage and culture of freedom and justice for everone.”
