There are things we can agree on and some we cannot. Many times those things we cannot unite behind stem from misleading or inaccurate information. Take the story about the Muslims celebrating the World Trade Center attack of 9/11. Donald Trump has been dragged over the coals because of his assertion that this celebration happened. The alphabet channels have gleefully tried to discredit Trump.

It appears that the facts (as usual) are somewhere in the middle. Yes, there were people celebrating but probably in numbers of hundreds, not thousands. So, if we set that aside, isn't the real discussion about the safety of Americans in that sort of atmosphere? Was that symptomatic of the larger population? And, in the stress of the moment, couldn't anyone of us perceived bigger crowds? We have freedom of speech in the United States but not freedom to create a reality. Far too often, the media seeks headlines at the expense of truth. Truth isn't often the attention grabber and it's sometimes hard to uncover. In addition, the media generally has its own agenda. In this case, skewering Trump. As Americans, let's seek the truth no matter where it leads. Carolyn M. Brown Englewood, FL
