Politically motivated decisions

Does it really matter if the electric bill arrives Monday rather than Friday? Can't we wait 2 days for that birthday card? Will our world crumble because the catalog is delayed 2 days? Are we that spoiled?

Rather than close Saturday (which I think is a great idea) then let's close on Wed. that way there is only a one day delay. How much longer do we want to shore up an obsolete system that cannot run efficiently because Congress is in charge? The problems with the United States Postal Service run the gamut from the fact that it can't be profitable because it can't set its own rates, hours, or policies - to the reduction in users. The internet and private providers are doing the job of delivering packages and greetings quicker and cheaper. This is another example of wanting cuts to the out-of-control federal spending, but not wanting to feel the pain. Who pressured Congress to vote against some common sense business changes to the system? We need to support agencies of the government who try to run efficiently. And we should let our Congressmen know if we disagree with politically motivated decisions such as this. Merideth White
