President Obama speech to the United Nations

I listened to President Obama speak to the United Nations. I was struck by the naivete. He spoke about how we can't have borders that were created by colonists and that we can't, or shouldn't have ethnic pride and must lift up all people in order to set an example and make the world a better place. You know, those are all worthy goals. One need not be a world leader or a scholar to understand that. What is so very maddening is that we are not respected around the world because we are perceived as weak. It is maddening to not hear any acknowledgement that Americans bear a tremendous financial burden because of our participation in the UN and because of our foreign aide to a majority of countries of the world. It was maddening not to hear a concession that we are under siege in our homeland in large part because he refuses to honor our borders and obey our laws. It is maddening that he refuses to state that many people around the world hate us. We certainly are undergoing the fundamental transformation of our country; the President believes those changes are for the best. But best for whom? I don't think many Americans believe those changes were ever designed with us in mind.
