Replacing “The Frigidity Of Rugged Individualism With The Warmth Of Collectivism” A Poorly Disguised Obituary For Personal Goals

The American Dream can sound like an idealistic goal. Something distant and far away, but it isn’t. The American Dream is lived by all of us every single day. It’s the ability to wake up, go to work at our chosen profession, and have the freedom to work towards a better life. We can choose to work hard at the job we have, or just to bide our time. We choose where we want to live, what we want to wear, and what we want to eat.

In America, these choices are routine and become almost mundane in their simplicity, but in many places those decisions are made for you. For those of us who have grown up as real Americans, it’s almost impossible to even comprehend how restrictive life is for many in the world.

Those restrictions arise when governmental power becomes so great that it invades far too many aspects of its citizens' individual lives. That type of interference doesn’t occur overnight. It creeps in slowly, disguised as something harmless, even beneficial. One tool that is often used is selective division. That’s when one group is designated as the problem for another group. Animosity is created, and the group that sees itself as victimized is encouraged to turn the tables. If they can’t do it themselves, then they will cheer, follow, and even vote for someone who they see as their vindicator. Someone who convinces them that they have their group's best interest at heart.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are the newest bunch of wolves in sheep's clothing. Their unofficial figurehead is Zohran Mamdani, a man who has done nothing with his own life but intends to ruin the lives of millions. Saying Mamdani is antisemitic is an understatement. Mamdani is a 100 percent hater of Jews and Israel. Being a devout Muslim, his hatred of Western Culture and American traditions is just as extreme. His election as mayor of New York City is both admirable in its deception and stomach-turning in that an electorate could be so manipulated and duped.

At his inauguration, Mamdani made his intentions clear, but of course he made them sound endearing to the masses, who desperately want to blame someone else for their personal lot in life.

When Mamdani said, “We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism,” he was chopping away at the idea of the American Dream. Mamdani and all DSA supporters do not support and frankly can’t allow individualism. They need passive flocks who accept what they are told and given; and of course, they sell that concept by convincing the flock that those who are wealthy are somehow responsible for everything that is wrong in their lives.

Mamdani’s statement could easily be the opening line of the obituary for personal rights. If allowed to run amok, Mamdani’s inexperience combined with his arrogance will not solve any problems, nor will it save anyone or anything. In his haste to prove that his fascist communistic tactics are correct, he will damage the financial infrastructure of the city so badly that it will take years to repair, if ever.

Mamdani has recently doxed some of the most influential people in the city. According to a New York Post report, he published the full names and addresses of every property owner targeted by the state’s new pied-à-terre tax.

The city’s Department of Finance published a searchable database that covers all unoccupied, non-primary residences valued at over $1 million in the five boroughs.

Crain’s New York Business reports that the luxury tax on second homes would affect approximately 31,000 properties.

However, the post disagrees. They counted more than 960,000 residences and individuals potentially subject to the tax.

One nonprofit business executive, Steve Fulop, put it this way:

“Most of the people on that list aren’t billionaires by any stretch; they’re people that believed in NYC, worked hard, and bought a second home. All this does is make people feel less safe in their own city, and less welcome in it.”

Republican Council Minority Leader David Carr of Staten Island correctly called it a “reckless and foolish move.”

“All the mayor is doing is tanking the luxury home market in NYC and sending millions of dollars in real estate business to other states. But the upside is Mamdani is a shoo-in for ‘Realtor of the Year’ in Texas and Florida.”

Mamdani has not only been criticized for the tax itself, but also for the smart-ass tone in which he announced it. In a post on X, he delighted in this, his most recent folly.

“If you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you’re back in the five boroughs — because you've got mail.”

“Today, we sent notification letters to property owners, letting them know that our new pied-à-terre tax is coming soon.”

“The best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That's only possible when we all pay our fair share.”

Fair Share? What exactly is a fair share? That’s exactly the question that one X user, Cynical Publius, asked, posting on X:

“What is the "fair share" of your many constituents who PAY NOTHING, Comrade Mayor?”

Mamdani wasted little time declaring what his mayoral agenda would look like. Like all DSA programs, this is doomed to fail. While similar to some of his other moronic ideas, such as free bus rides and government-owned grocery stores, the consequences for this disaster will cut deeper and last longer.

Mamdani may crow that New York City is the best city in the world, but there is no basis any longer for that claim. All Mamdani is doing with this fascist move is to depress the city further. He is running the most influential people out of the city, and when they leave, they will take their jobs and industry with them.

The voters in this city and this state need to come to grips with what this communist mayor is doing. It’s time to stop listening to his words and instead dissect his intent.

You won't like what you find. He’s already destroying the city’s tax base, and he has only been in office for seven months.
