Maine’s Governor Is Already In Trouble

What a difference a day makes. On Friday, I wrote a column on Maine’s blatant disregard for Title IX. In that piece, I wrote about how a male was allowed to compete on a female pole vaulting team and, as expected, won the meet.

Earlier this month, President Trump wisely issued an executive order that banned male transvestites from competing in girls' or women's sports. After stating that "men claiming to be women have taken more than 3,500 victories" and have "entered over 11,000 competitions intended for women," Trump declared that "from now on, women’s sports will be exclusively for women."

Maine officials, for reasons known only to them, have decided to ignore real women and girls in their state to accommodate the narcissistic freaks of nature who have imposed their will on the weak radicals in charge. In this case, the Maine Principals' Association, the governing body for sports in the state, and the Maine Department of Education have decided to allow lying and delusional male athletes to continue to steal victories from their female counterparts.

Later on Friday, as Trump spoke to the National Governors Association (NGA) at the White House, he sought out the Maine governor, Janet Mills, leading to this exchange.

“Is Maine here, the governor of Maine?” he asked.

“I’m here,” she replied.

“Are you not going to comply with it?” he asked.

“I’m complying with state and federal laws,” Mills replied.

Trump responded, “We are the federal law.” He again threatened the state’s federal funding and said Maine may be a Democratic state, but its residents largely agree with him on this issue.

“We’re going to follow the law,” she said.

“You’d better comply,” Trump warned. “Otherwise, you’re not getting any federal funding.”

“We’ll see you in court,” the governor replied.

“Good, I’ll see you in court. I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one,” Trump said. “And enjoy your life after governor because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

Trump is correct. This farce of allowing boys and men to compete against girls and women has run its moronic course. There are pronounced differences that provide boys and men with physical advantages. Allowing this to occur does nothing except rob females of the joy of winning they most definitely deserve.

Stupidity is nothing new to radical leftist Democrats, but for the governor to so shamelessly refuse to follow federal law and to rudely tell the president that she “will see you in court” is outrageous.

Fortunately, karma wasted no time catching up with the smug, self-righteous Mills. Just hours after her face-off with Trump, the Department of Education (DOE) launched an investigation into Maine’s compliance with Title IX laws.

In a press release, the DOE stated:

“Today, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) sent a letter to the Maine Department of Education Commissioner Pender Makin announcing that OCR is initiating a directed investigation of the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) amid allegations that it continues to allow male athletes to compete in girls’ interscholastic athletics and that it has denied female athletes female-only intimate facilities, thereby violating federal anti-discrimination law.”

“The letter also notifies MDOE that OCR is launching an investigation into Maine School Administrative District #51 (MSAD #51) after it was reported that Greely High School, a school under its jurisdiction, is continuing to allow at least one male student to compete in girls’ categories.”

Mills released her own statement on Friday, pledging not to follow the order and desperately trying to justify her stance.

“The State of Maine will not be intimidated by the President’s threats.”

“If the president attempts to unilaterally deprive Maine school children of the benefit of federal funding, my administration and the attorney general will take all appropriate and necessary legal action to restore that funding and the academic opportunity it provides.”

Acting assistant secretary for civil rights, Craig Trainor, accurately summed up the situation:

“Maine would have you believe that it has no choice in how it treats women and girls in athletics – that is, that it must follow its state laws and allow male athletes to compete against women and girls. Let me be clear: If Maine wants to continue to receive federal funds from the Education Department, it has to follow Title IX. If it wants to forgo federal funds and continue to trample the rights of its young female athletes, that, too, is its choice. OCR will do everything in its power to ensure taxpayers are not funding blatant civil rights violators.”

Mills’ attempt to play the victim is laughable. Trump is not indiscriminately denying Maine of funding for education. Mills is defying federal law by allowing men in the women’s locker room and showers as well as letting them rob women of their glory.

Mills is not being inclusive; she is denying women their right to privacy and fair competition. Stipulating that competition needs to be based on birth gender is basic common sense, something that must be at a premium in Maine.
