We thought it would never happen to us. We swore we would not allow it.

The oft cited belief that Democracies last only 200 years. Yet, here we are, potentially becoming a Socialist country in 2016. The growth of the social safety net, the pervasive liberal ideals that flourish in our colleges, the abdicating of our national sovereignty to the United Nations while at the same time usurping States rights in favor of the Federal Government are all steps to creating a Socialist society. We have taken those steps. If you study socialism, it cannot succeed for long. It is a false utopia peddled to under informed and welfare dependent people and idealistic young adults. Regardless. those groups have the ability to change the very essence of our country. Are we willing to stand by and allow it? John Land Englewood, FL
