Throwing away precious liberty in the name of political correctness

There is a lot to be said about tolerance. It is a trait fewer and fewer seem to have but it is a trait to desire. Yet, it also seems to be one of the things that only runs one way with some people. They want to be tolerated but they are intolerant.

I find that especially true of certain communities or segments of society. They expect, no demand, tolerance of their lifestyles as well as their right to speak about them, march in support of them, to seek legal and legislative protection and even to elevate their rights over the rights of others. But, Christians who express their beliefs are chastised, fired from their jobs, or intimidated into silence. Worse, it seems that this has become socially acceptable, the granting of rights to certain people or groups that are not afforded to all. With a few notable exceptions like Hobby Lobby, Christians remain publically silent about the inequities. We are throwing away a precious liberty in the name of political correctness. Christians need to assert their rights before they are completely gone. Shirley Reynolds Englewood, FL
