While his idiot friend spews incomprehensible nonsense and the weak-spined board just lets it all happen

VIDEO: Idiot doesn't like Michigan State board's choice for interim president, so he jumps on their table You have the right to protest. You don't have the right to invade people's work spaces, and when someone is having a meeting, the fact that you disagree with their action doesn't give you the right to jump up on their meeting table, sit there and refuse to leave. That does not make you a hero of free speech. It just makes you an obnoxious, petulant jerk.

The table-sitter and his equally idiotic friend were upset that the board had chosen former Michigan Gov. John Engler

Then again, if the people you're protesting are too weak and pathetic to do anything about it, why not? This is the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, after all. They were in charge as Larry Nassar perpetrated his evil over the course of 20 years and they either didn't notice or didn't care enough to do anything about it. They're weak and pathetic. So why should an idiot student fear any consequences whatsoever from pulling a dumb stunt like this? He shouldn't. He didn't. Via Chad Livenood of Crain's Detroit Business, who also wrote a story about it. The table-sitter and his equally idiotic friend were upset that the board had chosen former Michigan Gov. John Engler to step in and serve as MSU's interim president in the aftermath of LouAnna Simon's resignation. The choice of Engler to take over temporarily is the first good decision the MSU board has made in some time. Engler has respect and credibility, and if the organization has to be shaped up, he's one of the few people with the repuation and the chops to actually do it.

The students protesting were small children when Engler left office in 2002, and know little or nothing of his record governing the state. They complain about his "corporatizing" MSU - whatever that even means - is probably just because Engler is a Republican and all Republicans are corporate this or that, according to clueless twats like these two. I suppose a stunt like this makes you an instant hero on social media, and I suppose the very afraid MSU board want to avoid the criticism they would get if they forcibly removed the jerk from the table. But we're all better off if the right to protest comes with some sort of expecation that you'll exercise that right responsibly, like a mature adult. And you don't really get that expectation if you don't pay some kind of price for failing to do so. Apparently MSU is like most other college campuses in that its authorities fear the students more than anything, and absolutely refuse to curtail their behavior in any way lest they attract criticism, or a demonstration, or a lack of money coming from their parents. My son is a senior in high school. He is smart and has a bright future. Think I'm sending him into this cesspool? No way.
