All Play And No Thought Have Made Jack A Lost Slave
As many of my good readers know, I stopped watching network television way back in 1987. It had become trash in my house for which neither I nor my wife and kids had any further use. Having children opens a brand-new door in your heart. And you start seeing things from a tenderly different perspective (or at least you should), specifically that of a caring and cautious parent.
After six or seven years of no tv, I cruised into a pawn shop one afternoon looking for some of the rare music CDs that turn up in those venues. It was evening news time and all the TVs abandoned by the debtors were turned on for prospective buyers' inspection. All the big screens were tuned to one of the major network's primetime newscasts. Something had happened in Washington that day. And a few of the DC-based reporters were bantering back and forth about it with the talking heads at the studio in New York.
