All Play And No Thought Have Made Jack A Lost Slave

All Play And No Thought Have Made Jack A Lost SlaveAs many of my good readers know, I stopped watching network television way back in 1987. It had become trash in my house for which neither I nor my wife and kids had any further use. Having children opens a brand-new door in your heart. And you start seeing things from a tenderly different perspective (or at least you should), specifically that of a caring and cautious parent. After six or seven years of no tv, I cruised into a pawn shop one afternoon looking for some of the rare music CDs that turn up in those venues. It was evening news time and all the TVs abandoned by the debtors were turned on for prospective buyers' inspection. All the big screens were tuned to one of the major network's primetime newscasts. Something had happened in Washington that day. And a few of the DC-based reporters were bantering back and forth about it with the talking heads at the studio in New York.

News today: One percent a reporting of the facts. 99% completely skewed conjecture

As I listened, rummaging through the racks of hocked CDs, I managed to glean the fact that there had been a vote in the House of Representatives that afternoon. The vote was close--but, whatever it was, passed. After a riveting commercial break they went right on, like authorities, talking about that congressional ballot. As I continued flapping through the half-million discs, I silently realized a couple of things as the newscast continued. First, that it had been literally years since I had endured a big, mainstream-media news program. And, second, that it was--no exaggeration --no more than one percent a reporting of the facts. The rest was all completely skewed conjecture as to how the outcome of the vote was unquestionably certain to play out for John Q Public. It was an insult that I had never before noticed. I remembered an old newsreel wherein Edward R. Murrow talked about his responsibility to present only the facts, and to allow his audience to make up their own minds. These guys had totally abandoned that commitment. And they were quite obviously out to mold people's thinking. For so many years I had been blind to that. They continued rambling on, making hard statements that amounted to nothing more than guesses about the future. But it was all presented as if it were past-tense and undeniable fact. I made it a point to hang on to their foreboding comments in order to eventually confirm or refute their predictions. And I also noted that they had used every opportunity they could find in order to cast aspersions on the 'heartless carelessness' of the conservative side of the House as well as our (then) unpopular president GW Bush.

A generation of kids raised apart from any moral compass or anchor

Of course, time proved that none of what they said was worth the time I'd wasted listening to it. And the issue which had been voted on, in just a few days, faded into insignificance when the next showstopping, breaking news surfaced. Where am I going with all this? Most people my age--the ex-hippies of the 60s and 70s--still don't seem to recognize the mass stupidity and moral power failure we helped to install during our alleged 'rebellion' (which was supposed to have ushered in the awesome Aquarian Age world peace). So many of my coddled brothers and sisters--the people I call the "silver ponytails”--went on to raise a generation of kids apart from any compass or anchor which could have avoided the terminal mess we are in today. It seems that most of them just dropped their totally undisciplined kids off at school for what amounted to babysitting. And they threatened school boards and teachers with lawsuits if any unpleasant consequences were levied upon those out-of-control brats. At home they let a warm television parent and set the example for those numbskulls who went on to parent their snowflake grandchildren (who today populate the ranks of the masked and stupid antifa). And Hillary Clinton is incensed at Julian Assange for allowing America to see some of her embarrassingly careless campaign e-mails. In at least one of those emails an advisor candidly informed her that her strongest followers were mostly those young snowflake morons who were more interested in seeing rap music celebrities than hearing about the boring issues regarding America's future. And then the tv liars helped her and Obama to convince us all that Assange was the real, wicked culprit in compromising her privacy (and therefore ruined her shot at the presidency). We old folks are now the 'silent majority’--antiques who have never bothered to even notice the frightening insanity at a 'Slipknot’ concert--who couldn't get out of their recliners to help Donald Trump at midterms when he so needed that help. We are amazed that America knows nothing about its own history (let alone that of the world). And we are disgusted at the big liberal news sources who regularly hamstring our current president by simply feeding the general public lies and twisted truth about him. President Trump is quite understandably their most feared enemy simply because, unlike other politicians, he has no pricetag.

"YOU ARE HERE"

The emerging mass of New Age 'kids' now taking the reins of this nation are not at all moved, as we once may have been, by the drama and sacrifice of preceding generations. Instead, so much of today's youth is literally controlled by the lightspeed, high-tech energy and punch of whatever audio/video bytes the media/entertainment industry wants to lead them with. Hillary had the foresight to make deals with the moguls in charge of all that. And they were willing to be in league with her and her cohorts in exchange for their inclusion in the black machinery Donald Trump is now literally risking his life to dismantle--in an attempt to try to save Constitutional America. As I have so often mentioned, the Bible talks about a day and time when right would be seen as wrong, and vice versa (Isaiah 5:20). Jesus went on to warn that, apart from His saving presence in people's hearts, no one would be able to tell the difference between truth and deception (Matthew 24, etc.). As we walk along the scary pathway in this insidiously evil amusement park we are, each of us, right now at a fork in the road where the sign says "YOU ARE HERE." And we should, at some point, finally start thinking carefully as we choose our steps.
