Also these imperfect men fought for a nation's Independance from tyranny. IT is what it is why make judgements today?
Today that tyranny has returned in the form of NY Democrat shrills who remain desperate to find targets to ameliorate their own lack of initiative in the public good will and projects to provide safety for the people. Leave our statues alone!
No one has given permission to remove them, where are the decision makers? Where is the referendum and hearing board where artists and art historians can gather be able to explain to a seemingly yet woefully ignorant populace about the importance of allowing beautifully rendered legacy works to be where they are.
Leaving an empty vacuous space is that something worthwhile?
Have to say about this article why is it any different the removal of Legacy heritage Confederate War dead monuments? What are you arbiters of good taste or iconoclasts' hell bent on pressing your bias upon a city and it's citizens?
Note to politicians and their narrow-focused supporters we do not want or need you removing our beloved statues what ever the pressing issue. Have a workshop-lecture express what Y'all found on wikipedia and tell us about what feelings are brought to the table.
