At the time, a video of Biden bragging about withholding money from Ukraine was getting too much public attention. Democrats desperately needed a diversion.
Moreover, Democrats, desperate to get rid of the President and conceal the Obama administration's corruption, did what they always do. They falsely accused the President of doing the same thing that Biden actually admitted to at a meeting of the Communist Council for Globalism, known as the Council on Foreign Relations.
