The Lord’s Prayer 2.0—the Francis Edition In glorious Advent 2017, Pope Francis is not saying : “Merry Christmas!” instead he’s saying that the words should be changed in the almost 2000-year-old prayer, ‘Our Father’, the much venerated Lord’s Prayer. “Pope Francis has said the Roman Catholic Church should adopt a better translation of the phrase “lead us not into temptation” in the “Our Father”, the best known prayer in Christianity. “That is not a good translation,” the pope said in a television interview on Wednesday night.” (Reuters, Dec. 7, 2017)
“Liturgical translations are usually done by local Churches in coordination with the Vatican. The Pope wants to change ‘Lord’s Prayer’ as it implies God ‘induces temptation’.
