On March 9, 2019, Julia Ruth Stevens, adopted daughter of Babe Ruth, the man who invented modern celebrityhood, died at 102. One of the last living people to have known Babe Ruth, she was the protector of his legacy. "I couldn't have had a better father than him," she always said.
