The liberals started this failed hydro experiment saying we would get a 1% increase a year for 20 years on our hydro bill but what we got was the highest hydro rates in North America it started out with McGuinty paying up to 80 cents a kWh for solar power on 20- year contracts. Mike Crawley the former president of the federal liberal party was given a sixty - six thousand dollar a day contract for 20 years to produce solar power also McGuinty was signing 20 - year contracts at 40 cents a kWh for wind power instead of buying cheap hydro from Quebec at the time.
