Now, don’t faint, but I have to agree with Tom Mulcair[1] and Peter McKay,[2] on the how, what and why Trudeau brought out the RCMP, and the press, on Thanksgiving to regal Canadians with the India issues.
The issues that have come to my mind are:
Is this merely to distract media and Canadians from the internal issues of his leadership within the Liberal Party? After all, from media reports, he is, again, facing push back on his policies, leadership and how he is handling the potential election. Isn’t this the political game – distract, distract, distract?
As Tom Mulcair[3] says: India:
“With regard to the United States, I note, in particular a huge difference in tone in the way the Americans have handled this…I also think that Mr. Trudeau has been playing this very strongly. He opened parliament with it, he talked about this before… 13 months … I don’t believe for one second this is a huge coincidence that he’s taking this on, on the weekend, after the information broke with regard to dozens of his members, perhaps, signing a document asking for a leadership review. I don’t think it’s an accident because when he got questions on that, he got to say “I’m talking about things that are far more important than these internal politics in the party”….Yes there is politics involved in this.”
Is he trying to keep trade open with China instead of looking to India to fill that gap? The U.S. is handling this far differently and is getting far better results. Perhaps Peter MacKay is correct when he says:
Peter MacKay Former Foreign Affairs Minister – India - “Public way in which this is being discussed. A murder investigation, some of whom we have now seen arrests occurs. It is unusual [meaning the RCMP reporting, etc.,] you most certainly wouldn’t want this to happen before trial.
As a former prosecutor – Peter MacKay they are using “clever language at this point that doesn’t lead me to believe that they have all of the evidence that they would need to have a conviction in Canada…I do know that, by comparison, the United States, who seem to take the more traditional approach, which was to do this in a much more, quiet diplomatic way, they have Indian officials, now, on route to Washington, to discuss a similar situation, that unfolded in their countryBy going public we’ve blown this out of the water, in terms of having any hope that we’re going to get cooperation from Indian government, to bring this matter to fruition to have our justice system kick in and be able to potentially have convictions for what happened in Surrey BC with the assassination, the alleged assassination, of an individual from India.”[4]
With the Foreign Interference Inquiry mainly focusing on China and Russian interference, could it be that Mr. Trudeau needs to distract, also from his family’s longtime friends? Remember his admiration of China’s dictatorship, because they could turn their economy around on a dime, going “green.”[5] But then China has made this a focus of their economy for a reason.
“In so far as China is increasingly shaping, for the better or the worse, the Twenty-First Century, the question is far from being theoretical. The radical change of Peking’s attitude in climate negotiations can be explained by three interlinked and partially self-reinforcing causes:…the will to conquer new foreign markets shares in the field of green technologies and, not least, the desire to improve the country’s image on the international stage.”[6]
And when one considers the relationship the present Prime Minister’s father had with China and Russia,[7] well one can understand, perhaps, why this Prime Minister would want to, not only distract from his political problems with the “India” issue, but would, potentially use the “India” issue to distract from his friends at the Foreign Inquiry.
It seems every time Mr. Trudeau has grumblings in his caucus, he brings in the “India” card to distract from his failings, with his party and Canadians.
What is, particularly, sad is that the RCMP have been dragged into this. As Mr. MacKay stated:
Peter MacKay Former Foreign Affairs Minister - “Public way in which this is being discussed. A murder investigation, some of whom we have now seen arrests occurs. It is unusual [meaning the RCMP reports, etc.,] you most certainly wouldn’t want this to happen before trial …As a former prosecutor – Peter MacKay - “clever language at this point that doesn’t lead me to believe that they have all of the evidence that they would need to have a conviction in Canada…”
There is no way the RCMP, during an investigation, should be doing this. It would seem they are being used as pawns, as far as we can determine, and now Canadians have lost faith in our leadership and the force of the RCMP. In what reality, other than in Trudeau and Joly’s warped mind, would the RCMP be used, as a pawn, to distract from Trudeau’s failings and interfere in Foreign Affairs.
Maybe some of us are merely getting cynical, but, as some are saying, “are you kidding me?”
This should never be happening and it could all boil down to the Prime Minister and his office trying to distract and protect himself and his foreign friends.
The entire globe knows that China is undermining global economies, and the entire globe knows, including the U.S., that India is the only place that can be used to ensure a balance. Using politics and failed diplomacy is securing the P.M.'s ability to distract and support himself and not Canadians… at least to those who are looking at the events taking place – like Mulcair and MacKay…
