KABUL – The Herat Provincial Dept of Education and the Italian-led PRT inaugurated a school Feb. 7, in the village of Khelvak near the Turkmenistan border. The new school, which has 10 classrooms and a sports field, was funded by the Italian ministry of defence.

"Forty-five schools have been built in Herat prov., with the help of the Italian PRT," said Col. Claudio Dei, PRT cmdr. "This is a serious and concrete contribution that confirms how Regional Command-West intends to continue to provide for education, which is of crucial importance to the future of Afghanistan."
