The upcoming Presidential and Vice Presidential debates
Spoonfed questions to the favored candidate or a fair debate?
I was really excited about the upcoming Presidential and Vice Presidential debates. I was eager to see the candidates face one another and address the serious problems facing the country. My hope was that we might see the strengths and weaknesses of each. Now I'm not so sure. From the scaled-back schedule to the pro Obama moderators, the debates are stacking up to be more white noise and less fireworks. We need fireworks.
The race is close according to the media. Here is an opportunity for voters to see the men in action. We can see who answers the question and who reverts to talking points. We can see which has the facts at their disposal and who fumbles. We might see who would best represent us on the world stage. Instead we may see the candidates being spoon fed questions that we are supposed to swallow.
I hope I'm wrong. It will depend on the resolve of CBS, ABC, PBS and CNN to do the job of educating us, not brainwashing.
