What We Have Become?

What We Have Become?"The Eyes of the World Are Upon You." -- General Dwight Eisenhower to his troops - June 6, 1944 Our parents and grandparents, and for some, great grandparents, were very different people. They knew sacrifice, They knew pain and suffering. They knew hard work, being shaped by a great depression. They knew total war. For many of them two world wars. They also knew personal responsibility, duty, honor, country, and faith. They recognized God as the author of their freedom and honored the soldier and sailor as the vehicle of the Almighty for that freedom. Yet they remained humble, giving, selfless.

The 'Greatest Generation'

They were not a perfect generation. Some would say they did not sufficiently address civil rights, but I would say that is true only to an extent. This was a generation preoccupied with surviving two world wars, depression, poverty, and diseases like the Spanish Flu that devastated millions of families including mine. My grandmother lost two children in their youth. They were not confused as to who they were or what they had to do, like it or not. They didn't waste time on nonsense or frivolity. Many would criticize that generation for McCarthyism and being distracted with godless communism. Although schools today teach the McCarthy era as a blight, a sort of Salem witch hunt, I say they were smarter than we are today. Our public schools, university system, almost an entire major political party, and the mainstream media are now filled with socialists/communists. Old Joe was right after all. The 'Greatest Generation' should be judged by what they got right. They helped build a country that defeated Nazism, the Japanese Empire, and Communist Russia, the USSR. Seventy-five years after D-Day the free world still depends on this nation for the assurance of their freedom and safety. They helped build a society, a culture and a standard of living unmatched anywhere.

Society absorbed with self, the re-definition of traditional values, political and social

What Have We Become? I will say right off that there are and have been millions of selfless servants of God and country in the generations since. Although many baby boomers still continue the traditions of their parents, no one can deny that the genesis of a widespread rejection of classical values was during the late fifties, sixties, and seventies, a time when most baby boomers were reaching maturity. These baby-boomers and subsequent generations have created a society absorbed with self, the re-definition of traditional values, political and social. They profess to having all the answers, unwilling to even hear any opposing argument...but needing safe spaces. No longer is anything left to faith or time-tested values. But unknowingly, faith is what they have in abundance. It takes great faith to believe anyone can actually change their gender. It takes great faith to believe we will all die in twelve years if we do not spend trillions of dollars in an effort to change our climate. It takes great faith to believe we can tax our citizens to prosperity.

It takes great faith to believe that multiculturalism will bring us all together rather than keeping us separate

It takes great faith to believe that multiculturalism will bring us all together rather than keeping us separate. It takes great faith to think we can teach our children the value of life while killing over a million babies a year. It takes great faith and much temerity to think we can adopt socialism and succeed where everyone else has failed at the cost of tens of millions of lives in the last century. One could easily argue that foreign influence took its toll. Influence like the Frankfurt School, a German communist think tank that found a home within the American university system in the early to mid twentieth century that has now spread to the public schools...a problem we have yet to deal with or even recognize. I do not feel bold in my prediction that if we do not get a handle on our current leadership's ignorance, their dabbling in areas they know nothing about, especially among the youthfully oblivious, their willingness to totally change the order of society with us as their test bed, their presumption that freedom can co-exist along with socialism or collectivism, that we will all die or be enslaved, and it won't be from climate change.
