USS Portland Fires Laser WeaponAmphibious ship USS Portland (LPD-27) shot down a drone with a laser weapon during a first-of-its-kind at-sea test of the Navy’s high-energy laser weapon system. The Navy is currently developing and testing a portfolio of laser weapons, some of which are more powerful but only suited for ships with greater power-generation capabilities, like the San Antonio-class amphibious transport docks (LPD-17), while others are less powerful but could be fielded on a greater variety of ships, including the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer.

I phoned around to find pajamas made in Canada. I’m willing to pay more for them as I refuse to buy products that SHOULD be made here. Well you already know the answer. Each clothing store literally laughed when I asked if they had “Made in Canada” PJ’s. Perhaps more people, other than myself, need to demand more products be made here, not in cheap underpaid sweat shops where workers have no rights, no health care, no sick leave, no support. We have to stop supporting countries that take advantage of their own people to sell to us cheap. We are as bad as the businesses in those countries by giving them a market, us.
