Royal Canadian Legion’s Virtual Wall of Honour and Remembrance

OTTAWA – The Royal Canadian Legion will build a “Virtual Wall of Honour and Remembrance” to honour all deceased veterans. The appearance of the “Virtual Wall” will coincide with the National Remembrance Day Ceremony, organized by the Legion on behalf of and for all Canadians. It will be displayed on the large video screens prior to the start of the actual ceremony on November 11, 2012 and those thereafter..

The dangerous spin we can expect from Obama at the UN

President Obama is fond of boasting about his foreign policy prowess and is anxious to use his UN General Assembly address on September 25 to amplify that claim. His competence took a hit this past week after he pontificated on CBS – less than 24 hours after the murder of our Libyan ambassador – that as president he’d “learned” you have “to make sure that the statements that you make are backed up by the facts.” It turned out that he didn’t have the facts, but he and his officials kept yakking anyway.

Three Christian leaders arrested in Laos

(Source: VOM Australia) Three Christians in Laos were arrested earlier this month. It appears that authorities targeted them after believers from a Korean church visited their congregations. Charges are pending against Pastor Bounlert AlaomaiVill, who leads a church of 170 believers, Pastor Adang KengsaiVill, and Onkeo KapangVill, a church leader.

It has been a great start to the tour having held several rallies in Florida, Georgia and covering the state of North Carolina. The number of first time attendees at a Tea Party rally were surprising. When talking to folks we were told they are coming out to show support and get informed. Toronto Housing Starts Rise in August

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire) - Housing starts for the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area were trending at 54,600 units in August according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The trend is a moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR)(1) of total starts data. The standalone monthly SAAR was 64,500 units, up from 51,700 units in July.

Landowners Seek to Return Conservation Authorities’ Powers to Their Original Mandate

There is a debate at Ottawa City Hall as to whether the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) delayed repairs to a sewer pipe on highway 174. As we understand it, city staff applied in February to do the needed lining repair work on the pipe in question between April 16 and July 31 of this year. This suggests some urgency that the work be done sooner rather than later. RVCA replied to the city that no in-water work could occur between March 15 and July 1 of any given year.
