The BIG Speech - Did He Do It?

A mass email carried a message from President Obama after his address to Congress. He asked people to contact their representatives urging them to support his healthcare plan. Since the Democrats have the votes in both houses to pass any legislation they agree upon why does he need our help to convince anyone of anything? Was he speaking to the nation or was he trying to rally his Democrat troops to toe the line and pass his bill?

Follow the Leaders Rush, Glenn and Sarah

As usual it was Rush Limbaugh leading the way. He was the first political commentator with enough insight and courage to say what so many others were thinking, “I hope he fails.” If you listen to his program you know that this was immediately and repeatedly expanded to explain that he was referring to the President’s policies.

What’s in a Number?

Stating the obvious passes for folk wisdom in remote tribal areas such as the Southside of Chicago and since we now live in the Chicago-on- the-Potomac perhaps we should start to take some of this obvious wisdom into account. Take statistics, here is a science that’s used to make judgments and to justify actions. And what’s statistics just numbers and what’s in a number? And as the Chicagoism goes, “Figures don’t lie but liars figure.” How does this help us understand our new Omerica?

The Key

Once an entitlement program is started it never stops. It never shrinks. It never stands still. It always grows. According to the Mainstream Media it's merely rightwing spin to say Obamacare is meant to become a single-payer one-size fits all public option.

If the Voters are the Mob Who Brought the Thugs?

The Oministration’s attempt to silence dissent is chilling. The San Francisco limonene-liberals led by the multi-millionaire Nancy Pelosi claim the protesters are carrying swastikas clearly trying to label them Nazis without being so crass as to use the word. Do you think if there were pictures of any of these protestors carrying Nazi flags the Poodle Press would’ve missed the chance to loop it continuously?

Who Are The Barbarians?

The comparisons between Rome and America are legion. Recently I listened to a Bible scholar declare that Revelation Chapter 18 which has traditionally been associated with a veiled prophecy of the fall of Rome is in reality a direct reference to the fall of America.

Chicago on the Potomac

Back in the Dream Time, elders were honored because of their accumulated knowledge. If Pops knew a better way to saddle horses that knowledge helped Junior since he saddled horses. Today if Pops knows how to tune-up cars what good is that when cars don’t need to be tuned-up anymore? Now the old are relegated to extolling their own relevance while exclaiming, “I’ve never seen that before.”

Polite Conversation

imagePeople avoid silence because they're afraid of what they might hear. Although we value our freedom of speech, polite conversation in America is subject to one crushing rule, "Don't talk about religion or politics!" Most of us were raised with this stifling warning in our ears. The purpose was to avoid arguments at the dinner table but the result is a population illiterate in the two subjects affecting life the most.

Taking the Pulse of the Nation

Sitting in a cabin on the edge of a lake in the middle of the woods with the woman I love. The open windows bring a gentle breeze cooling the pleasant knotty-pine paneled room. The sounds of birds provide a sound-track to my thoughts. Governments may fall and economies may stumble but everyone needs some time aside to gather their thoughts.

A Fine Tribute

The multiple poodle-press pronouncements delivered from behind the curtain make it appear the Wizard of O is leading in several directions at once. The media's reporting-by-press-release contradicts itself. I agree with the Omaniacs on the talk show circuit with thrills running down their legs when they say our rock-star president is smart and has an agenda.

Does the Sovereignty Movement Go Far Enough?

The increasing pace of America’s progression from free markets to a command economy has reached such a pace and become so obvious the Russian Prime Minister used his spotlight time at the World Economic Forum to warn America not to follow the socialist path. Now the Russian newspaper Pravda, once the leading communist voice on earth published an article entitled, “American capitalism gone with a whimper.” People around the world can see the individual decisions of producers and consumers are being replaced by the form letters of a faceless central-planning bureaucracy even if the Obama boosters still haven’t swallowed the red pill and watched the matrix dissolve.
