Rep. Joe Garcia: “We’ve Proved that Communism Works”

It is no surprise that young people are enamored of communism. Their teachers have been indoctrinating them for years into the utopia of “social justice,” “environmental justice,” the “evil” middle class, and the spectacular equality for all as envisioned by Marx, Engels, and Lenin.

Loss of Sovereignty Disguised as Compassion

A Kauai man was sentenced to one year probation and a $200 fine on May 29, 2014 for letting his 8-year-old son walk one mile home as punishment for getting in trouble at school. I wondered what the progressive courts would do to American parents who would allow their minor children to trek unaccompanied across Mexico, hanging on trains, on buses, walking with a coyote, in order to arrive in a more prosperous country where welfare and economic security would await them through the generosity of a president who decided to nullify the southern border?

Demographic Suicide and Ethnic Replacement

Europeans have been committing “demographic suicide” for decades because of low birth rates. Author George Weigel described how Europe is committing “demographic suicide” - it failed to “create the human future in the most elemental sense, by creating a next generation.”

The New American Dream: A Lilliputian Home

The UN Commission on Global Governance reported in 1995, “The concept of national sovereignty has been immutable, indeed a sacred principle of international relations. It is a principle which will yield slowly and reluctantly to the new imperatives of global environmental cooperation.” (United Nations, Our Global Neighborhood, The Commission on Global Governance, 1995, Oxford University Press)

The Tragedy of the Regime's Social Engineering

It is so sad to watch Latin American children used as human props for political gain by our government, intent on forcing America into a third world status and more diversification.

Smart Meters at your local shopping mall

I went shopping today for a pair of pants. I was hoping it would only take a few minutes. How difficult could that be in the land of plenty? As I entered the large department store, I was greeted by stifling heat and humidity. This particular department store chain uses smart meters, cycled and controlled by the power company from a remote location in order to “save” them money. Customers and employees suffer because a small group of elites have managed to convince and bribe bureaucrats and politicians into pushing the agenda of non-existent global warming.

Price, Bananas, and a Pesky Soil Fungus from Asia

Keynesian economists tell us that under perfect competition, if there is no government interference and no central planning or directing, producers and consumers make uncoordinated decisions to produce exactly the quantity of each good that satisfies the equation MC=MU and scarce resources are allocated efficiently.

My Visit to The National Museum of Health and Medicine

Surgeon General William A. Hammond founded the Army Medical Museum in 1862 to “document the effects of war wounds and disease on the human body.” Its staff has conducted pioneering research on infectious diseases, pathology, and medical techniques. Museum researchers “contributed to discovering the cause of yellow fever and developing a vaccination for typhoid fever.” The Army Medical Museum was designated a Registered National Historic Landmark under the Historic Sites Act of August 21, 1935.

In a Daze, Where is My Country?

There are days when I watch in a daze the slow motion transformation of America into the country I left 36 years ago. Change is good for America, I am told by those who decided in their ignorant collectivist minds that they know what’s best for the rest of the country, for the rest of the world.

Wind Turbines take terrible toll on animals

I've recently reported on the bizarre behavior of animals, 1,600 miscarriages, and fetal deformities at a mink farm in Denmark after the installation and full operation on September 2013 of four 3-MW VESTAS wind turbines within a short distance (328 m) from Kaj Bank Olesen's fur farm.

Dangerous Health Issues Associated with Illegal Immigration

A very sweet and polite lady I do not know, posted a heart-breaking comment to my recent statement that entitlements are benefits that Social Security recipients and veterans collect after having earned and paid for them during a life time of work.

The accepted killing and maiming of animals in the name of Green energy

Governor McAuliffe signed Executive Order #16 on June 4, 2014 to establish the Virginia Energy Council chaired by the Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Maurice Jones. The council will have 20-25 members appointed by the governor and will “assist in the development and implementation of a cohesive, comprehensive, and aggressive energy strategy for Virginia.”

Communism Then and Now

"The difference between communism and socialism, except in the way of achieving the same ultimate goal: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism by voting. Its' the same difference between murder and suicide." --Ayn Rand

Shenandoah National Park

On a sunny and breezy May day with baby blue skies and cotton ball clouds, we embarked on a drive to Shenandoah National Park’s scenic roadway. Skyline Drive follows the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains for 105 miles to elevations ranging from 591 feet in the northern part of the park to 4,049 feet at Hawksbill Mountain, and an altitude of 3,650 feet at Big Meadows with its Lodge constructed in 1939. The park is located only 75 miles from the crowded northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

What Is the Price of War?

Several years ago, Mike, a Vietnam veteran took my Macro and Microeconomics classes. He always came on time, hopping on his crutches with speed, expertly avoiding anything that might trip him. You could tell he was in pain – he winced occasionally and sweated profusely from the effort to stay upright. He was missing his right leg above the knee.

My Dad Was Left to Die 25 Years Ago

Today marks a quarter of a century since the passing of my Dad before his time. He did not die a natural death, it was an agonizing 30 days of deliberate starvation in the hospital and lack of medical care, lingering and clinging to life after one last beating by communist goons. They cracked his skull when they threw him in a pit of metal lathe shavings from a refinery’s scaffolding. It was not the first time he had been beaten for various reasons, but this time it was most cruel. The metal shavings caused tiny bleeding cuts all over his body as well.

Promotion of Marxism Disguised as Income Inequality

Promotion of Marxism Disguised as Income Inequality

Unintended Consequences of Renewable Energy?

The D.C. metro was plastered last month with ads by GoWithCanada.ca, promoting the proposed 1,179-mile Keystone XL Pipeline, a 36-inch-diameter crude oil pipeline originating in Hardisty, Alberta, and extending south to Steele City, Nebraska.
