No good deed goes unpunished

It’s immaterial when the VA Scandal started; under Beaurat Obama, Herbert Hoover or Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The damned thing is a product of a progressive, socialist agenda to heal the world’s ills through federal government intervention. Or, is it interference?

From distancing to disengaging

Synonyms for distance: coldness, aloofness, detachment, reserve, remoteness, space, expanse, void, vastness, gap, dissociate, separate, detach, avoid Synonyms for disengage: undo, unfasten, untie, uncouple, free, extricate, separate The above describes Obama in all ways, shapes, forms and realities as it applies to his feelings toward the American people and America in general. To say he is a person operative on a self-satisfying level is obvious. To say he displays a specific coldness to the people placed him in office is apparent. To say he is aloof to the pain suffered by those having lost loved ones to terrorists and assassins really goes without the need to say it.

War by Wordcraft

Verbicide: 1. the willful distortion or depreciation of the original meaning of a word. 2.a person who willfully distorts the meaning of a word. Quotes: “Life and language are alike sacred. Homicide and verbicide --that is, violent treatment of a word with fatal results to its legitimate meaning, which is its life--are alike forbidden”. -- Oliver Wendell Holmes, "The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table," The Atlantic Monthly, 1857 “Men often commit verbicide because they want to snatch a word as a party banner, to appropriate its' selling quality'”. -- C.S. Lewis, Studies in Words, 1960

Out of control

So; Obama first learned about the Veterans Affairs debacle in the news like everybody else; again. Obama is incompetent to be president.

Some gave all (and deserve better)

The term "bureaucracy" is French in origin, and combines the French word bureau – desk or office – with the Greek word “Adhocracy”.

Speaking kindly

I decided I’d attend a soiree hosted by a very good friend running for a judgeship in Baton Rouge. I normally don’t get involved with people too much. I spent too many years working in law enforcement to not recognize many people seeking my counsel were looking for loopholes in the law and I don’t really care for the idea of being used. But this was different for me.

Low-hanging fruit

One of the major things fell into my hand lately (in the sense of debatable low-hanging fruit) was Chuck “The Schmuck” Schumer believing he’s intelligent enough to slaughter the Constitution by modifying it and gutting the First Amendment. This is because he finds free speech to be untenable and as such must be curbed lest he be restricted from destroying what this country stands for. Freedom of speech (in the sense of campaign finance) exposes his efforts to turn this nation into a poorly defined but fully operative replication of a totalitarian state. But he’s specifically worried because his liberal, millionaire (billionaire?) contributors are being matched by conservative billionaires.

Parlor Games

In the old days, pre-1900s, the main way people of means showed their taste and educational development (and thus their social superiority) was to sponsor “get-togethers” and topical lectures conducted by the primary theorists of the day. The theorists could be social, medical and possibly philosophical based; but they were the social darlings of the age. It was in this manner the speakers and specialists gained notoriety and financial sponsorship from their benefactors. I think of them as Parlor Games.

Board games

Stratego ® is a strategy based board game for two players. Each player controls pieces representing individual officers (commanders) and soldiers in an army. The objective is to find and capture the opponent's Flag, or capture enough enemy pieces so the opponent can’t make further moves. Players can’t see each other’s pieces, so disinformation and discovery are important facets contributing to the conduct of gameplay. (Wikipedia 2014)

Men for no seasons

John Kerry, a man for no seasons, has slid to a reality Global Warming is occasionally endured because political seasons change and not because of some nefarious right-wing conspiracy. Kerry is Secretary of State. He’s not very good at the job. He’s certainly no better at this job than he was at being a United States Senator. He is good at politics, which doesn’t require you be good at the job; merely that you appear to be good at the job.

Leader of the free world?

Okay. Let’s get this out in front of the conversation so we can all understand where this is really coming from.

“Smarts” in action

Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory suggested what I’ve known for years: school teachers have NO control over what happens in their classrooms. Guillory is advocating legislation in Louisiana, through Senate Bill 652. It would give teachers who feel threatened or who feel they're about to witness a fight a direct line to outside help.

In response

I occasionally receive commentary to my efforts. The following is a cut and paste derived from the website THE HAYRIDE: News and Commentary on Louisiana and National Politics. You could check it out. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Quixote into the breach

The blank white sheet of paper was replaced by the technologically advance, blank white screen. It doesn’t get better with time.

Toeing The Line in the Sand

Yesterday, I spoke of the pyramidal structure of government. It was said the people are the foundation of the pyramid with the different layers forming until you got to the top where the president sat. This is a “top-down” administration in my example. The weight of the structure presses down on the foundation at all times and as the government draws more and greater power the weight becomes oppressive. The best and easiest way for government to maintain this status is to enact more onerous laws and regulations.

Equality Only Within Class

Everything comes to rest in layers. Everything, when disturbed by the fluidic element of political action, stratifies upon settling. To stratify means to form layers. In sociology it means arranging, in a hierarchical order, especially according to graded status levels. If you look at any presidential administration and you see the stratified structure of a pyramid with the president at the top and the people at the bottom. The same can be said for any society.

Water under the bridge

Mr. A. Hays Town Jr. wrote a commentary to the column: Water, Water Everywhere published on 4-3-2014 in The Hayride and numerous E-Zines. To arm or not to arm…

Okay. So the question arises: do we arm our military on-base or not?

Water, Water Everywhere

The following referenced bill offered in the Louisiana Legislature was proposed by Dan Claitor. Mr. Claitor is noted for his political ambitions and now it appears he’s trying to pander to Russell Honore’s (Lt. General U.S. Army ret.), “The Green Army”. Claitor is a typical Progressive Republican apparently believing pandering to the left will cause liberals to support him in a distinctively confusing stance approximating moderation. Unfortunately for some of us it appears more a matter of capitulation in favor of self-service. Dan Claitor is taking on the status of the “poster boy” for the type of progressively misdirected mentality destroying our country.
