Pastor ‘Bike’ Zhang Mingxuan Arrested; Police Confiscate More Than 150,000 Yuan

Pastor At 6 a.m. on March 21, 2009, more than a dozen police officers arrested and interrogated Pastor "Bike" Zhang Mingxuan, head of the more than 250,000-member Chinese House Church Alliance. Officers confiscated three cell phones, bank cards and more than 150,000 yuan from one of the accounts, before forcefully searching him and threatening him with death. Three hours later, Beijing authorities turned Pastor Bike over to three police officers from Pastor Bike's hometown in Nanyang city, Henan province. Police then escorted Pastor Bike back to Nanyang by train, and where he was questioned by local police. Beijing authorities later returned the bank cards and cell phones, but kept the 150,000 yuan.

African American Pastor Sent to Jail for Offering Abortion Alternatives on Public Sidewalk

Today the Rev. Walter Hoye of Berkeley, California, was ordered to serve 30 days in county jail by Judge Stuart Hing of the Alameda Superior Court. Rev. Hoye had been found guilty on January 15, 2009, of unlawfully approaching two persons entering an abortion clinic in Oakland. Judge Hing had also ordered him to stay one hundred yards away from the abortion clinic for three years. However, Rev. Hoye refused this term of probation and would not agree to a stay-away order. Therefore, the judge denied the defense motion to stay the sentence pending appeal. Mr Hoye was taken into custody from the courtroom.

ChinaAid Receives Letter from Wife of Christian Prisoner Alimujiang Yimiti

According to an inside source, the case of Alimujiang Yimiti, a Uyghur Christian whom authorities have held in detention since January 12, 2008 for preaching Christianity, has been sent to a Communist Party committee at the highest government level in Xinjiang Uyghur Antonymous Region. This committee, which is the final arbitrator on all cases among the law enforcement agencies in the region, will make the final decision on Alimujiang's case.

Church Pastor Shot, Killed During Sunday Service

The pastor of a Maryville, Illinois, church was shot to death during a service today in front of horrified parishioners, who then tackled the gunman, according to news reports. The pastor of the First Baptist Church of Maryville was shot and killed during the 8 a.m. service, and the attacker and two parishioners suffered knife wounds in the attack. The gunman walked in during the service, walked up to the pulpit and opened fire. The pastor was shot three times. The gunman then pulled out a knife and wounded himself. Two worshipers who were attempting to detain him were also injured by the knife.
