Canadian city sued by Christian ministry for cancelling Sean Feucht worship concert over supposed ‘safety’ concerns

The city of Moncton is facing a lawsuit from a Christian ministry after it cancelled a concert featuring US Christian musician Sean Feucht just two days before the event was scheduled to take place last year.

Burn 24/7 Canada Worship Ministries Society is accusing the city of violating its freedom of expression by cancelling the event. The society filed an action in court on August 4 and is asking the city to acknowledge that it violated freedom of expression protections under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The society is also seeking $50,000 in damages.

In July 2025, just two days before the event was scheduled to take place, the City suddenly cancelled the event. The organizers refused to simply walk away and absorb the costs, and are now suing the City. Lawyers funded by the Justice Centre are representing Burn 24/7 Canada Worship Ministries Society, which is seeking $50,000 in damages for violating organizers’ freedom of expression, protected by section 2(b) of the Charter.
