Revolving Door Crime Wave

In the 1960s, insane progressive ideology created the Revolving Door Crime Wave. Leftists controlled the government, the media, the criminologists, and the courts. Deluded utopian progressives declared that psychiatrists were ‘behavioral scientists,’ as if they could magically rehabilitate anyone. They said prisons were medieval and planned to abolish them all. Crime skyrocketed, as incarcerations were deliberately cut for 12 straight years.

The universal saying became, “The criminals were back on the streets before the police could fill out the paperwork.”. Every category of crime soared upward by triple digits. Progressives denied it, but then it was said that “So many liberal writers had their typewriters stolen, it was difficult to deny the high crime.”.

But the pendulum did not swing back. Progressives refused to reverse course. Instead, they revised their mantra to “Criminals are the victims of the unjust society.”. In the 1960s there was not even conservative talk radio to push back. Leftists were in full control and saw that the public was terrified, so they voted for themselves and massive government. With their checklist demands, they voted for anything and everything except protecting the public from criminals.

America is the only western country with third-world crime rates. The Democrats controlled Congress from 1955 to 1995 and set the country on fire with the biggest crime wave ever. Over the last 65 years, there have been over a million homicides, over 1.4 million criminal opioid deaths, and 660 million reported crimes. It took the nationwide Truth-in-Sentencing revolution and hundreds of laws to undo it. With so many new laws protecting sentencing, Obama then attacked the other two pillars of criminal justice, with his War on Cops followed by the Rogue Prosecutor movement. Crime soared again.

The scams DOGE is uncovering have been happening for decades. Progressive ideology has not changed. Take for example, the Sentencing Project organization, headquartered in the DC swamp. Their mission statement defies reality. “Increasingly, punitive changes..." comes three decades after the Truth-in-Sentencing Revolution.

“Increasing evidence that large-scale incarceration is not an effective means of achieving public safety” follows the triple-digit decrease in every category of crime. “Dangerous prison overcrowding... weighty fiscal burdens... to accommodate a rapidly expanding penal system” does not square up with 12 straight years of falling incarceration and a 20% decline. Their stated goals are to undercut traditional criminal justice, close prisons, and they even claim that probation is overly punitive.

The Sentencing Project documents their links to 296 other groups. These many groups push the myth of mass incarceration when, in fact, the skyrocketing of violent crime happened twenty years before and was higher than incarceration. They push the myth that crime is about hard times, bad economies, and high unemployment when in fact that did not happen once in a century. Their utopian fantasies are proven failures. The progressive Left has cruelly refused to prioritize protecting the public for decades. Follow the money.

Crime history is a powerful tool that conservatives can use to defeat radical leftist ideology. But not knowing it has let leftists fictionalize it and use their misinformation against conservatives.
